Hey Campbell!
Welcome to our first hackathon of the year! Over the next month (or so) you will be challenged with making a program that meets our super epic awesome theme! Speaking of theme, the theme for this hackathon will be:
First World Problems
Have you ever had a problem that was so tiny and yet so, so inconvenient. Even if it only takes a few seconds out of your day, you act like it's the worst thing in the world, that must be fixed IMMEDIATELY. Well rather than solving serious issues in the world, let's waste our time fixing these instead!
Requirements
What to Build
Your task is to create any program, whether it be a console application, website, game etc. that solves an insignificant but annoying problem.
For example, imagine you're searching for something online, but OH NO, you've hit caps lock and now need to retype your prompt. Rather than losing the 3 seconds it takes to retype your prompt, instead invest the time to write a program that does it for you!
If you're not sure whether your idea fits under the theme, you can always ask one of the execs for their opinion. However, if at any point throughout the building process you think things like "Why am I doing this" or "This is stupid", then you're probably on the right track. :D
What to Submit
You can submit any type of program as long as we can run it! Keep in mind if there are extra steps in order to run your program, then please provide instructions as to how to run it. Also make sure to test your program as any submissions that we can't run will be disqualified.

Judging Criteria
-
Creativity
With such a silly and open-ended theme, creativity is key. Both your idea and your approach to solving it will be judged based on their creativity. -
Complexity
Complexity is a great way to "wow!" the judges. However, keep in mind that we are looking for interesting and complex solutions. Creating unnecessarily convoluted and complex problems will not yield a better score for this category. -
Presentation
You could have the best program by far, but it's still important to present it in a clean, appealing manner. -
Originality
When coming up with ideas, try to think of something unique! No matter how impressive your project is, if the judges have already seen it, it won't be too interesting.
